SNAEFELL UPDATE - 9 December 2013
Sometime in the early hours of 11 November both tower cleats supporting our new antenna snapped in high winds. The result is that the antenna, along with its support poles, is now hanging upside-down from its feeder, jammed against the tower leg.
Both machines can be heard and accessed from the Mountain Road, but they are otherwise unusable.
Locals will know what Snaefell is like at this time of year and how difficult it is to access the site with the tools and spares required to effect a repair. It is hoped that a lull in the current weather will allow a site visit very soon.
Plese check back here for updates.
If you're a user of our repeaters, please consider contributing to the running costs (which are not trivial!). Please see the IOMARS blog site for details.
